Although Asahel Curtis earned his living as a commercial photographer, his major focus was outside the camera lens. He had an enduring passion for Mount Rainier, climbing its spectacular heights on multiple occasions. He was a Yakima Valley farm owner, a dedicated member of Washington's good roads movement, and a founder of the Seattle Mountaineers Club. The first full-length biography of this premier photographer/booster/mountaineer,Developing the Pacific Northwest examines his work, his family and business relationships, his involvement with eastern Washington irrigation and cooperative marketing, and his beliefs about resource development.  By William H. Wilson.
